Medium / Pencil, paper
Tangled but continued lines constitute a television set with its antenna and screen. To the right there are two words, one in Chinese and the other in Korean, all meaning money. In his 1988 essay, Nam June Paik argued as follows. “I love to look back to the past far before the invention of property. Yes, video art has another in common with Neolithic people. Video cannot be monopolized, and is the common property of a community that anyone can share easily. Video is managing to survive in the art world operating as a system based on the exclusiveness of an original artwork, in the art world that is made up of artworks that can be sold and bought by cash only for a purpose of showoff and competition.”
