    Since its opening in 2008, Nam June Paik Art Center has hosted a series of symposium entitled the ‘Gift of Nam June Paik’. In 2019, the 11th international symposium focuses on Paik’s vision of media communication to critically examine the Anthropocene and to discuss the direction of media ecology.

    Nam June Paik Art Center is delighted to host the 2018 International Symposium, ‘The Gift of Nam June Paik 10’ from October 12th to 13th under the title, Future Museum: From Public to Commons. The international symposium series, ‘The Gift of Nam June Paik’ also welcomes its 10th anniversary and this year it has been designed to review the past decade of Nam June Paik Art Center.

    The International Symposium ‘Gift of Nam June Paik 9’ will be held at Nam June Paik Art Center from 8th July to 29th July, every Saturdays with the title Coevolution: Cybernetics to Posthuman. Nam June Paik defined ‘Cybernetics’ as various relationships between humans and machines, art and machines, art and technologies, humans and art and even among diverse arts(artists).

    The Symposium ‘Gift of Nam June Paik 8’ Reanimating NJP: Nam June Paik’s Interfaces will be held in the auditorium of Gyeonggi Provincial Museum on Friday 9 September, 2016. In a short essay written in 1972 and 1973, Nam June Paik summarized a key underlying idea of his cross-disciplinary, intermedia projects as follows: “Research into the boundary regions between various fields, and complex problems of interfacing these different media and elements, such as music and visual art, hardware and software, electronics and humanities in the classical sense . . . this had been my major task since 1958.”
