Nam June Paik wrote a Chinese word 家人, meaning a family or a wife. This may refer to his wife and colleague Shigeko Kubota, or the 37th one of the 64 hexagrams from Book of Changes beginning with 家人 利女貞. The phrase means that a woman plays an important role in starting a family, making it thrive, and bringing up a great man from it. Unlike the cursive writing in other works of Paik’s, this drawing can be characterized by bold and powerful strokes.
