Dimensions / 30x46cm
At the center of the background is the lower half of a woman’s body wearing a skirt, a garter belt, and high heels. What is written to the right, “As a skylark twitters, is it dawning out of the window east, what was left from yesterday,” and to the left, “was just given to a dog, and I am going again to take a nap.” Between the two legs is a television, the only thing in color, whose screen shows a scene at daybreak. A postcard attached over it, which Nam June Paik produced to celebrate his 54th birthday, juxtaposes historical events taking place on 20th July, the same day as his birthday, in the context of world politics: the birthday of Jacqueline Onasis in 1926, the execution day of Claus von Stauffenberg who attempted to assassinate Hitler in 1944, the first moon landing by Neil Armstrong in 1969. The beginning and the end of the list are math formula made up of only question marks, under the years 0068 B.C., 2168 A.D respectively. The last one is an official main logo of Nam June Paik Art Center.
