This is a mixed-media assemblage featuring the actress Lauren Bacall, who won a fame for appearing in the 1994 film To Have and Have Not. A still image of Bacall wearing a hat was cut into a square and was attached repeatedly in a cascade form like Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase No.2 so that it can have a kinesthetic sense. At the center are patterns that Nam June Paik often deployed, in which small anthropomorphic television sets are arranged like a go board. This can be related to images reproduced, circulated and stereotyped by the mass media. In the middle of the canvas there are two square holes for mini portable SONY TV sets to be inserted.
