In the performance, Paik manipulates a radio-controlled violin set afloat in a body of water. A flyer for the performance statesthat it is an “Ommagio a Joe Jones,” fellow Fluxus musician and collaborator known for his music machines made from found instruments. Paik’s performance is given similarly a mechanicalsounding title. First performed in Düsseldorf, the violin was fished out and played by other musicians. Paik later performed the piece with a group of other musicians under the title “Aqua Quartette” in Hombroich, 1986.
