Period/ 2018.08.24(Fri) ~ 2018.09.26(Wed)
Venue/ Nam June Paik Art Center 1F, Mezzanine Space
Nam June Paik Art Center presents the Random Access Project aimed at introducing promising artists who share Paik’s experimental artistic spirit and understanding trends of contemporary media art. This year’s project will take a different form from the previous group exhibition in 2015; random accesses to young artists are available in various places of the Nam June Paik Art Center, including the mezzanine and Eum Space. The 2018 Random Access Project will launch a new experimental attempt to locate the coordinates of life from the perspectives of young artists with such keywords as spontaneity, indeterminacy, interaction and participation.

■ Introduction
2018 Random Access Project opens with the performance and the archival exhibition Selfie-Upload on 24 August, 2018 by the artist Ga Ram Kim. Selfie-Upload, an audience participatory performance, invites audience to take their own selfie following the instructions by the elevator girl and upload it on SNS, thereby bringing their attention to the characteristics of the space of the elevator as well as social media. We hope that this project will provide an opportunity to explore the way our communication is expressed in the era as well as how selfie, smartphone and social media operate and how to use them.
