2017 Nam June Paik Art Center Special Exhibition Imaginary Asia Artist Talk I : Song Dong
We are pleased to invite you to the Artist Talk program of the special exhibition Imaginary Asia, 2017. The Artist Talk will be moderated by the co-curator Hyun-Suk Seo. The participating artists Song Dong will be also participated in to enhance the better understanding of the exhibition Imaginary Asia. Please do not miss this opportunity to observe these greats in conversation about the exhibition and the artist’s works.

Hyun-Suk Seo is a co-editor of the interdisciplinary magazine OB.SCENE and is an associate professor at Yonsei University. He interrogates space, modernity, and theatricality in his creative and research projects. His site-specific performance works, Heterotopia (Seoul, 2010–11), The Divine Prostitution of the Soul (Seoul, 2011), Heartlessly Autumn Wind (Tokyo, 2013), and From the Sea (Tokyo, 2014) involve each spectator to personally engage in urban places. His video works include Derivation (2012), The Lost Voyage (2012—), One Dream (2014), and Zoom out / Zone out (2013–14).

Song Dong
Song Dong has emerged from a strong Chinese avant-garde performing arts community and developed into a significant contemporary art figure in the progression of Chinese conceptual art. Song graduated from the fine arts department of Capital Normal University in Beijing in 1989. His work, which is often in collaboration with his wife and fellow Chinese artist, Yin Xiuzhen, ranges from performance and video to photography and sculpture. Song explores notions of impermanence and the transience of human endeavor.
