Medium / Wood carving
Nam June Paik often made a design of a TV set in a simple square, not only on the canvas but on different found objects such as paper, newspaper, and wooden panel. Entitled 2 1/2 TV, this work uses a piece of wood in the form of a rightward arrow, on which Paik drew two and a half rectangles. It seems that the design-like paintings of Paik’s came out of the process in which he poetically explored and expressed his idea of expanding television as an artistic medium.
