Curator Talk – exhibition related program – New Gameplay
Nam June Paik Art Center will be held Curator Talk, as an exhibition related program New Gameplay. This will be a great opportunity to understand about the exhibition by participating curators. We expect many visitors’ interest and attendance in this special exhibition.

Curators
Dr. Bernhard Serexhe
Bernhard Serexhe is an art historian, curator, and author. He studied sociology, psychology, art history, philosophy, educational science and received his Ph.d. from University of Freiburg in Germany. His dissertation is on the architecture of the Cathedral Saint-Lazare in Autun, France. He was a curator of ZKM l Media Museum at ZKMㅣCenter for Art and Media Karlsruhe, a head of ZKM l Media Communication department, and has been a chief curator ZKMㅣMedia Museum Karlsruhe since 2006. Since 1995, he had also worked as a consultant for the Council of Europe, studying on “The new space of communication, the interface with culture and artistic creativity.” Other than Council of Europe, he served as a consultant for international NGOs and cultural institutions. He taught as lecturer media art and museology at the State Academy of Fine Arts St. Petersburg in Russia and the University of Berne and Basel in Switzerland and Karlsruhe in Germany. From 2008 to 2012, he was a professor for aesthetics and media theory at Istanbul BILGI-University. He is the initiator and director of the European Unions research project. Stephan Schwingeler
Dr. phil. Stephan Schwingeler (*1979) is a curator, researcher and lecturer. Currently he is research associate at the ZKM | Museum for Contemporary Art. His first book deals with the topic of space in video games and is one of the first art historical publications in the field of Game Studies. His Ph.D. thesis and second book examines the practices and strategies of Game Art and artistic video game modification from the perspective of art history and media theory. He was the scientific consultant of the Next Level Conference in Cologne and Dortmund. In the last couple of years he also was responsible for running the GameLab at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Among other exhibitions and events he is responsible as a curator for the exhibition „ZKM_Gameplay” at the internationally renowned ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe. „ZKM_Gameplay” features Game Art, Indie Games, Serious Games and other forms of experimental gameplay. His exhibition “Global Games” presents videogames as political media. Based on “Global Games” the Goethe-Institut, in cooperation with ZKM, is currently conceptualizing the upcoming exhibition “Politics and Games”, which will be touring worldwide from autumn 2016.
